Accountabilities
- Specializes in COPD (Specialty Care), providing crucial expertise in various areas of respiratory medicine.
- Reviews emerging data with Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) in a scientific, objective, and candid manner, discussing benefits and risks.
- Acts as a tozorakimab scientific consultant, encouraging HCP engagement in corporate projects such as advisory boards, speaker programs, and clinical trials.
- Identifies HCPs with the scientific knowledge and expertise for collaboration in forward-thinking basic, pre-clinical, and clinical research as part of target planning.
- Stays updated on regional HCPs, their practices, and key issues and trends in disease treatment, serving as a regional subject matter contact in the lifecycle management of products.
- Uncovers research opportunities with HCPs, connecting these opportunities with Medical Advisors as part of the Externally Sponsored Research (ESR) process.
- Supports key clinical trial sites by providing relevant scientific expertise during site initiation.
- Collaborates with clinical operations groups to ensure successful recruitment of clinical sites.
- Gathers scientific insight from clinical practice leaders to contribute to shaping brand strategies.
- Collects and reports Adverse Events following AstraZeneca policies and SOPs.
- Understands the local healthcare system, developing partnerships with key decision-makers in primary care to identify innovative ideas for improving patient care.
- Reactively supports the medical community in implementing customized practice-changing initiatives, leading to the identification of patients requiring Guideline-recommended improvements in care.
- Uses regional healthcare systems expertise reactively to identify opportunities and support improvements in patient care pathways.
- Seizes opportunities to connect HCPs within their region or across the country to share best practices for improving patient care.
- Actively participates in sharing best practices and practice-changing ideas with the Scientific Affairs team.
Essential Skills/Experience
- Previous experience as a healthcare professional (PharmD, MD) or one with scientific expertise including PhD or MSc. Relevant Clinical Practice degree with clinical experience (e.g., Respiratory Therapist, Nurse, Pharmacist, Primary Care Physician etc.) may be considered.
- Minimum three years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry in a physician-facing role.
- Previous specialty MSL experience and/or expertise in respiratory, allergy and/or immunology is required.
- Experience in the launch of a new entity with a novel mechanism of action.
- Excellent ability to learn and capacity for scientific concepts and knowledge.
- Effective and proven strong communication (both verbal and written) and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated relationship development, leadership, and team collaboration skills.
- Good organizational skills and able to work autonomously.
- Expert knowledge of the health care environment with regards to Opinion Leaders, Academia, and the Medical Community in general.
